INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS 95 USERS
'Discover Astronomy' can be run entirely off CD-ROM. However
for performance reasons we strongly recommend installing the
program on a hard disk drive. This takes less than 1.0 megabyte
of disk space.
To install the program follow the instructions given below:
Step 1. If you haven't already turned on your computer and
started Windows, do so now.
Step 2. Insert the 'Discover Astronomy' disk in the CD-ROM drive.
Step 6. Windows 95 will find and execute the auto-install program.
Click Install when the Maris auto-install dialog is displayed.
The Maris auto-install dialog is only displayed the first time
that you install 'Discover Astronomy' in your CD-ROM drive.
Step 7. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
If you do not already have QuickTime for Windows 2.0.3 or later
on your hard disk, accept the option to run the QuickTime 2.0.3
installer to install QuickTime for Windows.
STARTING 'Discover Astronomy' with Windows 95
Step 8. After installing 'Discover Astronomy' the Maris auto-play
dialog will be displayed automatically when you insert the CD-ROM.
Click on Play to start 'Discover Astronomy'
Removing or re-installing 'Discover Astronomy' under Windows 95.
The Maris auto-install program registers the program installation by
making an entry in the WIN.INI file. Each time you insert the
CD-ROM the program checks this file to determine whether to display
the auto-install or the auto-play dialog. If you delete the
'Discover Astronomy' files from your disk without modifying the
WIN.INI file, the auto-install program will continue to believe
that the program is installed. Auto-install will not function
correctly until you remove the 'Discover Astronomy' lines from WIN.INI.
Alternatively you may re-install the program by using Add/remove
programs, which is in Control panel.
